3 Ways To Fix Ecobee Not Turning On Heat

But, sometimes the peak month of winter, the temperatures here can drop to freezing conditions. That’s why I use the Ecobee Smart HVAC system.
And one major issue I have faced with Ecobbe over the years is – Ecobee not turning on heat.
So, in today’s article, let us take a look at 3 tried and tested methods by which you can fix this issue.
Why is Ecobee not turning heat?
There are several reasons why an Ecobee thermostat may not be turning on the heat. Here are some possible causes:
Incorrect wiring
If the thermostat is not properly wired to the HVAC system, it may not be able to control the heat.
This can be caused by loose wires, incorrect wiring, or a damaged wire.
Temperature settings
If the temperature settings on the thermostat are incorrect, it may not turn on the heat.
For example, if the thermostat is set to a temperature lower than the current room temperature, it will not activate the heating system.
Power issues
If the thermostat is not receiving power, it will not be able to control the heating system. This can be caused by a tripped breaker, a blown fuse, or a damaged power cord.
Faulty thermostat
If the thermostat is malfunctioning, it may not be able to control the heating system.
This can be caused by a variety of issues, such as a damaged display screen, a faulty temperature sensor, or a software glitch.
HVAC system issues
If there are problems with the HVAC system itself, the thermostat may not be able to activate the heating system.
For example, if the furnace is malfunctioning, the thermostat may not be able to turn on.
In order to determine the cause of the issue, it’s important to troubleshoot the thermostat and HVAC system. And here are three ways to do so.
Check the thermostat’s wiring.
You can get started by checking the wiring of Ecobee.
Check that the cables to the thermostat and the HVAC system are correctly connected. If any of the cables are loose or disconnected, the heat may not be turned on.
To inspect the wiring, remove the thermostat from its wall mount.
Examine the thermostat’s backside to confirm that each wire is firmly connected to its matching terminal. If any of the wires are loose, use a tiny screwdriver to tighten them.
If you’re unsure about inspecting the wiring, it’s advisable to call a professional HVAC specialist.
Check the temperature settings.
Another reason why your Ecobee thermostat may not be turning on the heat is due to the temperature settings.
Make sure that the thermostat is set to a temperature that’s higher than the current room temperature. If the thermostat is set to a lower temperature, it won’t turn on the heat.
To adjust the temperature settings,
- Press the “Menu” button on your Ecobee thermostat and
- Select “Settings.”
- Then, select “Thresholds” and
- Adjust the temperature settings to your desired temperature.
Check the power source.
The third and last reason your Ecobee thermostat could not turn on the heat is a power supply problem.
Check the breaker box or fuse panel to ensure that your thermostat is receiving electricity. If a breaker has tripped or a fuse has blown, the breaker should be reset. Alternatively, you can also change the melted fuses.
