3 Ways To Fix Ecobee Schedule Not Working
Recently a reader contacted me with an issue she was having with her Ecobee Thermostat – The sleep schedule was suddenly not working.
She has been using Ecobee for over a year now, and she has a list of heating/ cooling schedules for different seasons. But, recently, the schedules started to perform incorrectly.
Thus, in today’s article, let us talk about 3 Ways To Fix Ecobee Schedule Not Working.
Ecobee Schedule Not Working
If your Ecobee schedule is not working, there are several things that you can do to resolve the issue.
Start by checking your schedule settings to ensure that they are correct and saved.
Next, check your Wi-Fi connection to ensure that your thermostat is connected to your network and that your network is working correctly.
Finally, check your thermostat settings to ensure that your sensors are working correctly and that your temperature readings are accurate.
Why is Ecobee Schedule Not Working?
Incorrect Wiring
Incorrect wiring can cause problems with your Ecobee auxiliary heat.
Check the wiring connections to ensure that they are correctly connected to your heating system.
Make sure that the wires are not loose or disconnected. If you are unsure about the wiring, consult a professional HVAC technician for help.
Incorrect Thermostat Settings
If your thermostat settings are not set correctly, it can cause the auxiliary heat to run too long.
Make sure that your thermostat is set to the correct temperature and that the auxiliary heat is set to “auto.”
Also, check the threshold temperature for auxiliary heat, which is the point at which the auxiliary heat kicks in. If the threshold temperature is too low, it can cause the auxiliary heat to run too long.
Dirty Air Filter
A dirty air filter can cause your heating system to work harder than necessary, which can lead to the auxiliary heat running too long.
A dirty air filter restricts airflow, making it harder for your heating system to heat your home. Check and replace your air filter if needed.
Damaged or Loose Thermostat Wiring
Damaged or loose wiring between the thermostat and the heating system can cause the auxiliary heat to run too long.
Check the wiring between your thermostat and heating system to ensure that it is correctly connected and that there are no loose or damaged wires.
Malfunctioning Heating System
If your thermostat settings and heating system components are all working correctly, a malfunctioning heating system could be the cause of your auxiliary heat running too long.
Faulty components, such as a faulty heat pump or malfunctioning air handler, can cause the auxiliary heat to run too long.
If your device is incurring the same problem, then here are 6 remedies you should try.
1. Check Your Schedule Settings
The first thing you should do when your Ecobee schedule is not working is to check your schedule settings.
It may be that your schedule is not correctly set up or that changes you have made to your schedule have not been saved.
To check your schedule settings, navigate to your Ecobee app or web portal and select “Schedule.”
Check to ensure that your schedule is set to the correct days, times, and temperature settings. You can also modify your schedule to make any necessary changes.
2. Check Your Wi-Fi Connection
A weak Wi-Fi connection can also cause issues with your Ecobee schedule.
Ensure that your thermostat is connected to your Wi-Fi network and that your Wi-Fi network is working correctly.
If your Wi-Fi connection is weak or unstable, consider moving your router closer to your thermostat or using a Wi-Fi extender to boost the signal strength. You can also try resetting your Wi-Fi network and reconnecting your thermostat to your network.
3. Check Your Thermostat Settings
If your schedule settings and Wi-Fi connection are both right, you should double-check your thermostat settings. Check if your thermostat is in “Schedule” mode rather than “Home” or “Away” mode.
Additionally, confirm that your temperature sensors are operational and that the temperature measurements are accurate.
If your thermostat is not accurately recognising temperature changes, you may need to adjust your sensors or replace them entirely.
Ecobee Schedule still Not Working?
If the issues still continue to drag on, then it’s better to call customer support and get the device fixed.
