From the thrills of Marvel to the soothing songs of Rapunzel and other Disney processes, Disney Plus is the home to some of the most sought-after content in the world.
But, sometimes, apps like Disney Plus might stop working on your Samsung TV. The app might be stuck on the home screen and unwilling to open or shows a completely black screen.
In such cases, start by checking the internet connection of your house. Alternatively, you can restart the Samsung TV or reinstall the Disney Plus App. That’ll do the task.
Here’s a list of all potential remedies you can try if Disney Plus isn’t working on your Samsung TV.
Restart your Samsung TV
Restarting your device is the go-to solution for fixing most minor issues.
To do so:
- Turn off your Samsung television.
- Take off the TV plug from the outlet. Wait for 1 minute.
- Reconnect the TV to the outlet.
- Restart the Samsung TV.
Alternatively,
- Turn off your Samsung television.
- Take off the TV plug from the outlet.
- After pressing the power button, wait a minute for the static electricity to dissipate completely.
- Reconnect the TV to the outlet.
- Restart the Samsung TV.
Restarting your Samsung TV might not be the ideal solution, but it gets the job done 90% of the time.
For the rest 10%, you can follow the later remedies.
Check Internet connection
Disney Plus requires a stable internet connection to share content from the Disney Servers to your Samsung TV. A bad connection can cause the whole app to freeze or the screen to turn black when opened.
The routers’ insufficient signal strength causes the WiFi to have connection issues with external devices periodically. Restart your WiFi to cure this problem.
To do this:
- Turn off the Wifi router and all connected devices.
- Unplug the router’s power cable.
- Wait for 1 minute.
- Once more, connect the power cable, and switch on each component one at a time.
- Keep an eye out for the WiFi and Samsung TV to reconnect.
- Open the Disney Plus app to see if a live broadcast is available.
Alternatively,
If you have a wired internet connection, like a broadband connection, talk to your provider to learn how the signal is performing and how long it will take to get better.
Reposition your Router.
Frequently, people overlook the Wifi’s available range.
It will automatically slow down if you use it outside its recommended range. To properly use Disney Plus, ensure you are 10 to 15 metres or less from your WiFi router. Otherwise, we recommend repositioning your router to a more centralised location.
Run an Internet Speed Test.
You can also measure your WiFi or broadband connection’s speed. Many trusted websites that do free Internet speed tests are available online.
Visit one of these websites to check the speed that is offered.
Check if servers are down.
Disney Plus Servers are rarely down, but if the faithful day ever comes, simply open the Disney Plus app on your Samsung TV and wait for the home screen to load. If the screen is black, there may be a server failure.
Restart Disney Plus
If the Internet connection isn’t an issue, the next step is to restart the Disney Plus App.
Oftentimes apps like Disney Plus get out of sync with their servers. You can restart the app manually using your Samsung TV Remote, or, in some cases, you might need to Force Stop the Disney Plus app to get the best results.
To do so:
- Long Press on the Disney Plus app until additional settings show up.
- Select “App Info”.
- In “App Info”, Select “Force Stop”.
- Restart the Samsung TV.
- Open Disney Plus App.
Reinstall Disney Plus
If force-stopping and restarting the app does nothing, then the cache memory of the Disney Plus app might have gotten corrupted. In such cases, you have to reinstall the app.
To do so:
- Long Press on the Disney Plus app until additional settings show up.
- Select “App Info”.
- In “App Info”, Select “Force Stop”.
- Wait for the process to end.
- Now go to Google Play Store.
- Search Disney Plus.
- Click on Install, accept all permissions and wait for the installation to complete.
- After installation, log in to your Disney Plus account.
Now the app must work fine.
Update Samsung TVs Firmware.
If Disney Plus is still not working, it’s time to switch sides and try fixing issues related to the device rather than the app. This can be done by updating the firmware.
Firmware is like a set of instructions, usually written in machine language, that helps your Samsung TV to connect with apps and carry out standard functionalities over the internet.
The Samsung TV won’t be able to connect to any apps if the Firmware is corrupted.
To update the firmware on your Samsung TV:
- Select “Home” from the menu.
- Select “Settings.”
- Navigate to “Support” in Settings.
- Click “Software Update” after scrolling down to find it.
- A pop-up will confirm your actions. Click on “update”.
- Wait until the update is installed.
- Switch off your Samsung TV.
- Restart the Samsung TV now, then launch YouTube TV. Now everything ought to be alright.
If your firmware hasn’t been updated in a while, it could take up to 30 minutes to complete. Firmware updates typically take a few minutes.
Reset Samsung TV
If nothing has worked, it’s time to reset the Samsung TV.
Doing this removes all apps outside those preloaded, and your smart TV is reset to its factory defaults. All user data is deleted, including passwords and downloaded items.
To do this:
- Turn on your Samsung TV.
- Select “Home” from the menu.
- Select “Settings.”
- Choose “General” from the Settings menu, then “Reset.”
- Go to “Settings” for earlier models (pre-2018).
- Go to Settings and choose “Support.”
- Choose “Self Diagnosis” from the support menu, followed by “Reset.”
- Enter your smart TV’s PIN; the default PIN for Samsung TVs is 0000.
- Keep a close eye on the reset process.
- After that, set up your Samsung TV, then download the Disney Plus app.
Resetting the Samsung TV should solve the issue indefinitely.
