Samsung TV Chromecast Setup (Separate Device NEEDED!)

Samsung TV Chromecast Setup (Separate Device NEEDED!)

We all know modern-day humans have evolved from Homo sapiens, who trodded earth thousands of years ago. And just like our ancestors, the technology we use daily has evolved to where it is today.

Remember when TVs used to come with adjustable antennas and circular changers?

Today the antennas and changers have been replaced by Wifi and in-app remotes, but with innovations, new problems come. That’s why I started this page.

In our last article, 5 Ways to Cast to Samsung TV, I covered all methods of wired and wireless casting; thus, today, I plan to take it a step further by providing a step-by-step guide on Samsung TV Chromecast Setup.

Be sure to read this article until the end to learn more.

What is casting on Samsung TV?

Screen casting is a type of mirroring in which you can transfer AV input from one output to another via any wired or wireless means.

The only difference between mirroring and casting is that mirroring displays output from both the source and the cast, whereas casting only shows the output from the cast. The source simply serves as a promoter throughout the procedure.

With the help of casting, you can quickly run apps that aren’t present in the App Store or Play Store.

Today I will specifically tell you about setting up Chromecast on your Samsung TV so you can enjoy seamless connectivity at your fingertips.

You will need

To begin, you will need the following:

  • The latest version of Google Chromecast tag.
  • HMDI to TYPE-C Cable(usually supplied alongside the device)
  • A smartphone/ tablet with the latest version of Google Home preinstalled.
  • Wifi/ Broadband connection.

Note: You will not require any tools in this procedure.

Unlike Apple Airplay, the Chromecast module doesn’t come preinstalled on the Samsung TV. Thus, you must use a peripheral device to download the setup files.

No matter what the model of your Chromecast tag is, just follow these steps.

First, you need to connect the Chromecast to your Samsung TV and a power outlet. To do so:

  • Start by powering off your TV.
  • Take the Chromecast tag and plug it into the HDMI input, usually on your TV’s backside.
  • Take the power cable and plug the TYPE-C input into the Chromecast tag and the power inlet into a power plug.
  • Turn on your TV.
  • Simultaneously, turn on your Chromecast power supply.

You will see the standby light on both devices. If not, replug the device and start over.

Why use Chromecast?

Chromecast is one of the many casting devices available on the market. If you look on Amazon, you will find a lot of other devices like Fire Stick or Roku that do the same exact thing, plus they come with added features. But Chromecast is cheap and value for money.

If you want more than just castability, go for Roku; Chromecast is cheaper and, thanks to Google Home integrations, works much better on the Samsung TV.

Chromecast isn’t working.

If you followed the steps above and your Chromecast is still not functioning, there may have been an issue or error with the device. Here’s how to troubleshoot it:

Check the Internet connection.

Your Chromecast will function much more effectively with a strong WiFi signal. Verify that you entered your login information into the Google Home App correctly. Ensure you can access media, and your phone’s WiFi signal is strong.

For wired connection, make sure the upload and download speeds are above 2 and 5 Mbps, respectively.

Check the cable

Look for any tears or cracks on the HMDI or Power cable. Ensure all connections are tightly fastened before you jump to any conclusions.

Just to be safe, invest in a braided HMDI to TYPE-C Cable.

Make sure both devices are on

Both devices should show a standby light when powered on. If not, there’s an issue with the supply.

Try setting the TV and Chromecast back to default settings if you’re experiencing problems. Press and hold the tiny, round reset button for at least 25 seconds to reboot it. You can also change the power block if needed.

If needed, try a new power supply.

The Samsung TV beeps red when it powers up; make sure the red light is on before you try anything else.

And just like that, you have successfully set up Chromecast on your Samsung TV.
